Twenty terms that appear on profiles, rate pages and agency conditions in the Benelux.

TermMeaning
All in rateAn amount covering the usual elements of an appointment, so nothing is itemised afterwards. Travel is normally excluded.
Mediation agencyThe party that introduces, arranges and records the appointment. It does not provide the service itself.
Booking formHow a request reaches an agency: name, contact details, date, duration, location and wishes.
CompanionshipCompany without further arrangements, for instance at an event or a dinner.
Dinner dateAn appointment starting with a meal, usually priced as a two hour booking with slightly more time in practice.
EscortThe broader term for someone providing paid company. Used for men and women alike.
GigoloThe common Dutch word for a man providing company to women and couples.
LimitSomething a person does not do. It applies on both sides and needs no justification.
IncallAn appointment at a location the companion arranges. Less common in the Benelux.
Couple surchargeAn extra amount charged by some agencies when a couple books. Not every agency applies one.
OutcallThe companion travels to the client, at home or at a hotel. The usual form in the Benelux.
Travel costsThe one item added on top of an all in rate at most agencies. It rises with distance.
ScreeningThe check an agency runs before registering someone: identity, age and an interview.
CoupleA man and a woman booking together, a substantial share of requests in the region.
Safe wordAn agreed word that ends an appointment without discussion.
Rate indicationThe amount shown on a profile, usually for the first two hours.
ExtendingBooking additional time during an appointment, at the hourly rate from the profile.
Working areaThe area someone covers without meaningful travel costs being added.
Self employedThe legal form most companions work under. They set their own rate; the agency mediates.
VATIncluded in the quoted rate at Dutch agencies, so it is not added afterwards.
