Mediation, not employment
Agencies in the Netherlands and Belgium describe themselves as mediation agencies. They introduce, arrange and record the appointment. The companion is self employed and sets his own rate, which the agency lists on his profile.
That is also why every Dutch site carries a passage stating that payment is for time and company. It is a legal boundary rather than a turn of phrase, and it explains the careful wording visitors often notice.
What happens after a request
A request usually goes through a form or a message with a date, a duration, a location and a name. The agency checks availability, confirms the total including travel, and passes on what has been agreed.
Serious agencies ask for a real name, a phone number and, for a home visit, an address. That information exists for the safety of both sides and good agencies keep no more than they need.
Screening
Agencies verify identity and age before adding anyone to their list, and most run an interview. What they cannot verify is chemistry, which is why the conversation before an appointment matters more than the photographs.
Feedback after a booking is how agencies learn who suits which kind of request. Anything that did not go well is worth reporting for exactly that reason.
Signs of a careful agency
A traceable address or phone number, a clear disclaimer, rates visible on the profiles, no pressure to decide quickly, and a stated answer about what data is kept and for how long.
The absence of any of these is not proof of anything, but the combination of several absences usually is.
